Tax year 2026-27

Income tax calculator

This works out an estimate of your income tax for tax year 2026-27 (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027), under both the new and the old tax regime, so you can compare them. It is for individuals who are resident in India for tax purposes. Results update as you type. Everything you type stays on your own device — nothing is sent anywhere, and we never ask for your name, PAN, Aadhaar, phone number or email.

1

About you

Under the old regime, this decides which slabs and some deduction limits apply to you. A senior citizen is someone aged 60* or above; a super senior citizen is 80* or above.

2

Your income for the year

Do not include family pension (pension you receive after a family member's death) here — add it under 'other income' below instead. This calculator does not apply the special family-pension deduction.

Put interest from company deposits or bonds under other income instead.

This calculator does not handle capital gains (profit from selling shares or property), business income, rent from a house (taxed under its own rules), or lottery-type winnings — it only covers salary, pension, interest and other ordinary income.

Old-regime deductions

Only counts under the old tax regime

This calculator uses the main limit of ₹2,00,000* (section 22(2)(a) (old law: 24(b))). A lower limit applies in some cases, such as some older loans or loans taken for repairs — this calculator does not apply that lower limit.

Counted up to ₹1,50,000* (section 123 (old law: 80C)).

Over and above any NPS counted above, up to ₹50,000* (section 124(3) (old law: 80CCD(1B))).

Counted up to ₹25,000* (section 126(2)(a) (old law: 80D(2)(a))), or up to ₹50,000* if you or your spouse are senior citizens.

Counted up to ₹25,000* (section 126(2)(b) (old law: 80D(2)(b))), or up to ₹50,000* if your parents are senior citizens.
